Counselling for Students

Students

I have a particular interest in working with Students, having worked as a counsellor at Bath College and seeing many University students in my private practice.  I also work with students as a tutor, for an online counselling skills level 2 course. Things you may be experiencing could include

  • Isolation, loneliness, depression or anxiety
  • Feeling lost or unsure about your future and if you are on the right path
  • Identity issues
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Social pressures
  • Financial pressures
  • Difficulty adapting to living away from home or being in a shared house
  • Body image concerns or exploring your sexual identity
  • Stress from exams or deadlines, which could be amplifying existing issues
  • Fear of not being good enough with expectations building up around you
  • Feeling confused and overwhelmed
  • Amongst other issues…

I often see students who would prefer to see a counsellor in a neutral space, away from their place of study, or students who have had some limited support from their educational setting or the NHS, but want some further ongoing support.  Sometimes people don’t want to start with one counsellor to have to change after a short period of time, especially if it has been difficult to take the first step to begin with.

I do offer some concessionary rates if finances are an issue so please enquire.

If you have not already done so it may be worth checking what your place of study can offer you so that you are aware of all of your options.  Sometimes wellbeing or mental health groups and advice are accessible.  Some of these may be helpful alongside seeing me for counselling sessions.   It can be useful to have a number of sources of support.
